The Perfect Balance - Jodi & Nick

"Today you are vowing to choose to live a Pura Vida with one another."

With the serenity of the ocean tides and the vibrancy of the rain forest, we visited the gorgeous Costa Rica for Jodi and Nick's destination wedding. When my best friend got engaged I was both honored by being asked to be in the wedding, but also that they wanted me to facilitate the ceremony. She said that she wanted nothing more than me to be up there with her.  The possibilities were so exciting! 

Though I have known Jodi since early high school, I needed to craft a wedding ceremony that not only represented her but her future husband, Nick. During my interview process with the couple, I began to understand why Nick wanted to be married in gorgeous Costa Rica. As I listened to him describe the location I was suddenly struck with the parallels of this place and this couple. 

"Like the serenity of the ocean tides and the vibrancy of the rain forest,
this rich paradise, is balanced by one another. Together they capture the true
natural beauty of life. Similarly, you too have found your perfect balance in one another. "

For the ceremony we were on the top floor of a gorgeous private house looking upon the ocean. It was a very warm day and we were surrounded by the lush beauty of the country. Jodi and Nick wanted something short and simple without any additional readings or activities, so every word was important. Also very unique was the diversity of the guests, with many languages and countries represented. People traveled a very far distance to see this union, this perfect balance.

"We speak multiple languages, but regardless, we know two genuine
souls when we see them. And we honor the love you have found."

The ways in which their love brought so many others together during this week was simply beautiful. For that and many other reasons I am honored that I was able to solidify this union. Pura Vida!
