Other Services: Writing Wedding Ceremonies and Vows
Andrew and Jennifer

Other Services: Writing Wedding Ceremonies and Vows (Without the Officiating Services)

A note from Dana: Jennifer and Andrew were planning their wedding at the top of a ski lift over 9000 feet above sea level in beautiful Vail, Colorado.
Unfortunately for me, the timing of their wedding date overlapped with a family vacation.  I offered to write their ceremony, getting to know them as if I would be their officiant. We met, I learned about them, their love story, and their wedding plans. I wrote their wedding ceremony  and began coordinating with their friend Meredith, who they chose for their wedding officiant, who I virtually supported in her own readiness to perform the ceremony.

Incorporation of Couple's Personalities

Jen and Andy are the type of people who bring others’ together,
Two who love to enjoy life, have fun, be challenged and live fully.
These beautiful mountains drew you both to vail;
Where you came seeking a similar lifestyle,
though you came from very different backgrounds

A handy lake-loving boy from Wisconsin,
and a girl from a beach town in LA..
Some things differed, but what was the same was within the heart.
What drew you together was your vision for life,
A life of love, a life fulfilling passions and a life of adventure,
One of which you knew you could create.

Incorporation of Family Traditions

As we stand under this huppa which symbolizes a home that Jen & Andy will build together- It is a Jewish custom to conclude the wedding ceremony with the breaking of a glass.
The fragility of the glass suggests the frailty of human relationships.
The glass is broken to protect this marriage with the implied prayer:
May your bond of love be as difficult to break
as it would be to put together the pieces of this glass.
And as it’s broken you all can join me is yelling Mazel Tov!

Quotes From One Another about One Another

Andy describes Jen as organized, motivated, driven, and someone who loves to be challenged.
Jen describes Andy as thoughtful, particular and handy, someone with lots of talents who keeps the house running.

And certainly, not-organized :)
More like the ying-and-yang you two share differences individually,
But as one, and at the heart level, the thrill seeking level,
you are so very similar.

With Humor Based on Getting To know The Couple

Andy do you promise to take Jen as your wife from this day forward.
In time of happiness and in times of challenge,
And :) In a hangry moment or with a full belly.
If so, please repeat after me, and declare to her, I do.
Andy responds, I do
