A Beautiful Blend - Amy & Amanda
Meeting Amy and Amanda was such a blessing to me. From day one, it was so apparent that they were two individuals, with different personalities, that found a bond for life. I quickly observed Amy's more quiet approach, admiring her bubbly bride-to- be as she shared with me the details of their upcoming wedding day. Amy is a culinary student and Amanda is a child care taker. As I chatted with them, I knew I could create a ceremony to represent this unique union. I spoke with the couple's mother and best friend and learned about how they finished each other's sentences and took such care of one another.
Their ceremony transformed into a blending of spices, the very unique spices their personalities represented - cinnamon and rosemary. As I wrote, it so naturally fed my spirit. The blending of spices, the combining of their lives, the different flavors, the way they complete one another. In addition, Amy's family had some Jewish traditions to honor so we incorporated the breaking of the glass. They cried when I presented it to them. They shared that it was "so them." We made some minor tweaks to the language, I do, vs. I will. I loved getting to know them as their wedding day approached, chatting about all the details and helping them calm their wedding jitters.
On the wedding day, the ladies were so emotional. I arrived early and supported the family set up the gorgeous room of greens and white. A combination of spices, linked to personal recipes scattered across the tables as guest favors. The weather was gorgeous and their friends and family arrived anticipating the day's events. It was beautiful. The ceremony music started with country music playing over the speakers, which led to the wedding party's grand entrance to "I was born this way," by Lady Gaga, a fun way to lighten everyone up. I guided them through the words that were oh-so-familiar to them from our practice sessions. We were even able to throw in a line about woman ruling this union, which brought a smile to both of their faces.
Mazel Tov! We even incorporated a breaking of the glass. This couple will always have an impression on my heart. They were sweet, genuine and sensitive and deserve nothing more than infinite happiness. I am so thrilled that they met one another, and that I had the pleasure of spending the most important day of their lives, becoming one, alongside them.
Cinnamon and rosemary surely are a bold and beautiful blend!
